Questions for ADA?

Should SCANZ discussion take place on ADA? Media able to be accessed [linkable if not inline] 10-15 additional artisits discussions of projects under development local cultural structures

Helen introduces the UpStage concept Exist on the webserver [have a presentation soiree] once a fortnight this happens Possible platform and interaction with the artists before they get there

Installation on the server – Playful environment to be part of [can be anonymous as the audience]

Should SCANZ discussion take place on ADA? Yes of course – there are bursts of conversation [discussion seems to revolve around the upcoming symposium

Also does [cantor dust] burst of activity Is a good idea for there to be a further infiltration of international artists – self selection may not be a bad thing

What about a postcard for ADA [are we looking for more members?]

If not ADA where - Alternative would be a blog? Or usenet [not so good for media] ADA - site could have an area where you have the ability to filter

Lets see what happens if those two conversations go together? Is there a concern of overload? Would be likely to be the focus anyway

Need the interest of the group to proceed [find the right structures for it to work] Also – what about the people just coming for the ADA symposium Trying to look what might be the crossover [weeks while workshopping may not be on the list? Someone reporting on the workshop progress?

Way of getting the information out to the list [is the introduction of the artists topical] Is there a SCANZ organising list?

Updating the work of the artist? how does the information get out to the visiting artists

Are the people organizing SCANZ the ADA organizers?

Stella? is the structure of ADA is that going to change or stay the same? How change or grow? Should incorporate as a trust? Informal, further funding, who accounts for the money?

Do we want to keep it the way it is? If so it has to develop Think the involvement of the people involved – impressed by the diversity and also the threads

Seems a good way of extension and diversification

Need to rely on institution [ie otago uni and art school, polytech, artspace etc] Different from the last two – total sum of its parts Who would be on a trust board?

Nice to develop for something that included collaborative projects [otherwise might need to start talking about the same things] – RGB nice dimension Good to have some tentacle outcomes

Is part of the SCANZ? Needs to be organized by people in the location [need that] Have a meeting as part of the SCANZ – also cover the collaborative practise

Next year opens up to international [ADA 2007 another event] six month doesn’t work for a sensible development – other events were ADA member initiatives

SCANZ – has travel and accommodation for 10 national and international members

If ADA members get there what can be provided If there is no symposium why might people come? Workshopping opportunity [funding is creative and professional development – no outcomes – not a lot of planned public programmes – hoping for more funding for Auckland programmes]

Selection in January to get into the feb funding round That would frame what the people are coming to New Plymouth for [not locked into outcomes but need a reason for people to come]

Has to be timing issues [student holidays at WITT – varies across institutions

Go to the conference? Anyone who is on this network meet here etc [so if there and can get there – but not a full event – so there is still the ADA component [but excludes the people who live a long way away

But also about connecting in the same country [but also who lives down the road]

Worked as part of SPARK – made a real effort to get there and found it hard being part of the south island –

Reason to go to New Plymouth? What about the digital strategy?

Need to start a discussion about the possibility of forming a trust? Is an issue if there

Isn’t only about money – its about what the structure is – if stay as mailing list? Sustainability? Is a need for it and people have come to it and has grown to be something of importance [suggests a viable future – will be point when have to be something]

Fibreculture list – is very active – may need a few administrators with out having to name those people – can be involved in a deep level of claiming an administrative role stur Not think about in terms of legal entities but as an administrative body –

What actually is ADA – identifying a realm of what we do all have half a foot in many different circles – becomes quite important the phase at the moment and where it is going - apart from trust or incorporated society what does it become [does it start to become an institution – healthy thing about mailing lists – are discussions not funneled into a hierarchical or conditional structures In medium of borderless ideas that someone can find this [may then become harder to find and participate

But practicality is it harder to get Are there other things like this?

Can we continue the discussion over here? There is food and wine [pop, pop, clink, munch munch – POP! woo!]

Burble burble murmer murmer…..

Hold it hold it! Further announcements

Most important thing right now is that people post to the list – on the list Putting together the dvd – need to send in the ppts to put on it

Keep thinking about the ADA body
