Hi, I'm Nigel Saywell, After a year in the UK doing live theatre and then moving to Palmy North for a Vet degree. ( don't do it, it sucks the life out of you). I moved to Wellington, finally onto Te Papa as an Audio Visual technician. I am currantly working with automated show controllers from Guilderfluke corp. These guys do all of Disney Entertainments' show stuff for their fun rides. Fun, but not always easy. After doing Ciscos' CCNA and then CCIS my interest in the internet as a 'tool' desolved into the mud of my mind. Being @ Te Papa is agreat oppotunity for me to work at things that I like. ( as I said I'm a geek) Dirty Pixels was the first ' new media' show I 've seen to in ages. Te Papa has only put on one "New Media" exhibition, St@rt Up. I was the technical manager for the show, this meant that I got to provide the equipment that the artist required ( while not missing any sponsorship oppotunities) but filling orders can get a little boring. Q's for the list; There are companies around the world set up to help new media artists with their software and technology. (235 media in Germany is a good example). I can't find anything similar in NZ, why not? Is there simply not the population or is it money or another reason all together. Thanks to Stella and Sean for getting the ball rolling, Great to be involved ... |
